This story “Filipino labor attaché denies seeking favors from distressed women” was quite distressing and shocking. I think the authorities concerned should take necessary action to provide help to these distressed women and the whole episode must be investigated thoroughly.
There is no denying that there are a lot of women who face harassment at workplaces, offices, and when they are in a desperate situation and want their work done anyhow. Some unscrupulous people take advantage of their plight and ask for sexual favors. However, Filipino labor attaché is denying the charges against him, an independent investigation must be conducted by the authorities in Manila to establish the truth.
It is a fact, nobody accepts the guilt, and the responsibility lies with the concerned authority to find out the truth and bring the culprit to the justice. It has been seen many a time that housemaids are forced to do things that they do not want to do.
I think these women should be given extra security to get their government jobs done smoothly. Apart from this, the concerned authorities must understand that these distressed women are here to support their families back in their home countries.
They should be given all help to be able to continue their work in a dignified manner. We must sympathize with these women and give them all the respect they deserve.
