The Ministry of Health canceled the license of a dental clinic yesterday in Turaif, 1,459 km from the capital, for repeated irregularities.
A health official from the ministry told Arab News that the owner of the center would not be allowed to apply for a new license for a period of two years.
In addition, the ministry reported two dentists, who were working at the clinic, to the Medical Practitioners Committee for violating the health code of the Kingdom.
According to the official, the dentists practiced in the clinic without obtaining licenses from the local authorities. The dentists face penalties for not following the ministry's regulations. The license cancellation follows an inspection by a health committee.
In November last year, the ministry shut down nine private medical facilities in the capital to safeguard public health, the official said.
The ministry said it will not compromise the quality of health care provided for citizens and residents in the Kingdom. It added that it would continue to impose the heaviest penalties for irregular procedures.
During 2012, the ministry shut down three hospitals, 30 medical complexes, 15 clinics, 29 pharmacies, 27 optical centers and five physiotherapy clinics. A total of SR 3,754,000 in fines was imposed during this period. The pharmaceutical sector topped the list with fines of SR 1,985,000.
