SASCO seeks help to improve services

The Saudi market needs 20 supporting companies to improve motorway service stations across the country, said Ibrahim ibn Muhammad Al-Hadaithi, chairman of the Board of Directors of the Saudi Automotive Service Company (SASCO).
Al-Hadaithi said in an interview that it is important that these service stations are operated by professional companies rather than individuals so that they can conform to international standards.
“SASCO operates a vast network of road stations and rest places across the country,” said Al-Hadaithi, adding: “Since the new administration assumed its mission in 2009, it has worked hard to rebuild the company’s image through the realization of the aspirations of users.”
He added that rebuilding the company’s profile is a national goal: “We need more support in terms of attitudes and directions to take these bold steps.”
Al-Hadaithi also expressed thanks to Prince Sultan bin Salman, president of the Saudi Commission for Tourism and Antiquities. “Prince Sultan was keen on retaining the name as it is a Saudi trademark ... The challenge now lies in developing this trademark, not changing it.”
This is the only chance, he said, to restore people’s confidence, boost domestic tourism and explore tourism potentials that celebrate the Kingdom’s environmental and archaeological heritage.
SASCO owns and operates 93 gas stations. Following the shift in its operations, SASCO took control of an additional 34 gas stations.
Al-Hadaithi said there are plans to develop the existing locations, starting from vital highways and ports. “The new model will bear the name SASCO Plus, a developed and distinguished model to start working at King Abdullah International Airport,” he said.
