Dr. Adil Shaheen Al-Dossary of King Fahd University of Petroleum and Minerals (KFUPM) has appreciated the role of the Indian community in Saudi Arabia and for the dedication and zeal it has shown in all spheres of life.
He was speaking as chief guest at the inauguration of the special souvenir — Touchline — brought out by Alkhobar’s United Football Club as part of its five-year celebrations at the Al-Nahda Football Stadium.
Dr. Siddik Ahmed, chairman and managing director of Eram ITL Group, who inaugurated the event, urged the International Indian School authorities and the Indian community to set up facilities at the school to encourage sports among the student community. He suggested intercommunity and interschool football matches.
The 120-page souvenir is a compilation of literary works of several famous writers from the media and cultural sector in Saudi Arabia and India.
Sajid Arattupuzha, a journalist, wrote the introduction for the souvenir.
The event was attended by IISD Principal Dr. E. K. Mohammed Shaffe, Al-Dossary Hospital Director General Dr. Abdul Fatah Enayal, Indian School Higher Board member John Thomas, IISD Managing Committee member Abdullah Manjeri, Lulu Hypermarket Regional Director M. Abdul Basheer, OICC Saudi Arabia President P.M. Najeeb, Alikkutty Olavattoor (KMCC), Riyaz Ismail (Navayugam), Sathish Parumala (DIFA), Johnson Keeppallil (Sunshine School), Albin Joseph (Express Money), Abdul Khader Master (Al-Muna School), Aziz Abdul Rahman Sharafuddin (Royal Malabar) and Nas Vakkom (social worker).
The event was presided over by Mohammed Najathi.
The function began with a recitation from the Holy Qur’an by Aminul Najim.
United Football Club Chairman Raju Lucas welcomed the guests and Mujeeb Kalathil, chief editor of the souvenir, thanked the attendees.
