Traffic on social networking sites has been pretty heavy since Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah announced extension of the amnesty for illegal expatriates in the Kingdom by another four months.
Several social networking sites were full of happy messages, praises and prayers for King Abdullah, not only from expatriates in the Kingdom but also from people all over the world.
“Long live the king!” wrote Mohammed Haggag, well-known Arab businessman in Dammam, on his Facebook page. “The miracle all expatriates workers were looking forward to has finally happened. King Abdullah has a big heart. God bless him!”
“King Abdullah, may God bless you and give you the best of health!” wrote Maha Jawad on her Facebook page. “The extension of the grace period to expatriates is akin to a big burden being taken off the backs of everyone who were ready to press the panic button,” she wrote.
Syed Munavar tweeted his joy, saying: “King Abdullah has the prayers and grateful thanks of millions of expats in Saudi Arabia for the extension.”
Although majority of the Saudis were eager to know about the procedures to hire more expat workers, others were against the extension.
“Not a good decision,” wrote Khaled Al-Wafy on Twitter, mentioning the “Amnesty Extension” hashtag.
