Melvin Lising reached what is considered the holy grail of every serious bowler when he rolled his first career perfect 300 game during the FEDBG Thursday event at the Bowling City here.
Lising made the 12 straight strikes during the third game of the competition. His last ball hit the pocket and the audience roared when the 7-10 pin split was knocked down by the rest of the spinning pins.
Lising opened the competition with 195 to be in seventh pot behind Marcelo Manalo, Ahmed Shariffudin, Jimmy Mandingiado, Archie Santos and Jimmy Aragones.
Lising followed this up with a 265 to be right behind Manalo, who kept top spot on 471, with Lising, who seemed to be comfortable with his game, on 460 with Rene Martinez on 443.
In the last game wherein all competitors were jockeying for winning positions in this sudden death match, Lising served notice of a potential 300 when he strung together eight strikes.
The audience then paused to watch a fellow bowler finish the 12 strikes after Lising bagged his 9th frame.
On the last frame, first ball was strike as well as the penultimate shot and a hush fell over the crowd as Lising was presented with a golden chance at a perfect game.
Casually, Lising picked his brand new ball, squared up then approached normally.
Lising executed an awesome release watching his 15-pound DV8 Brutal Night Mare ball, drilled in JBS-Pip’s Pro Shop, precisely tracking the lane.
It was a pocket shot but 7-10 pins were momentarily left standing till they toppled as a result of the spin from ball to pin.
The crowd mobbed Lising to congratulate the newest member of the 300 club alongside Dennis Alvarado, Zaldy Bacero, Bobby Baraquel, Amro Al Amri and Ahmed Sindi, who are all perfect-game achievers in FEDBG events.
For his feat, Lising will receive a brand new high performance bowling ball from JBS-Pip’s Pro Shop.
