EDDY's new showroom had a grand opening in Tabuk on Sunday with brisk sales as more than 2,500 customers took advantage of its special offers within three hours.
Un Chul Hwang, executive vice president-operations of EDDY, who cut the ribbon along with Riyad Alokran, director of admin and HR, and Mohamed Salhi, CFO of EDDY to mark the opening, said this was the first outlet in the capital city of Tabuk province in northwestern Saudi Arabia with a population of over one million. EDDY earlier opened three showrooms elsewhere in the Kingdom — in Dammam, Hail and Bisha.
EDDY will inaugurate more showrooms soon in most of the major cities across the Kingdom, in keeping with its plan to have 36 showrooms in the coming five years. "We intend to invest several hundred million riyals in the coming five years to open a total of 36 showrooms Kingdomwide," Hwang told Arab News.
"In the beginning we chose medium class cities and the showrooms we opened there are doing well. But we will move to big cities despite heavy competition there. We intend to open showrooms in Riyadh, Jeddah and Dammam next year," he said. "We will open five showrooms this year and eight more next year. A showroom in Baha will be opened this year."
He added: "We are trying our best to recruit more Saudis and based on achieving Saudization target we'll get visas and recruit more people. We expect to employ a total number of 2,500 employees within five years in 36 showrooms."
EDDY is a new concept within the Kingdom's market to present a shopping experience for the whole family, a one stop destination that is fulfilling their utmost needs for a pleasant, visionary dream home.
"Having the vision of becoming the most favorite family shopping destination along the Saudi market, EDDY is committed to presenting high quality products at reasonable prices," Ammar Naghi, president of EDDY, said in a statement.
"The huge EDDY showroom will give a feeling of comfort, convenience and ease of selection to your desired home ware, from electronics, home appliances, personal care and kitchen appliances and kitchenware, to tableware, bedding and soft furnishing," Hwang said at the opening.
"You will find all brands including Samsung, Panasonic, Sharp, Philips, and many others under one roof. Besides, a variety of selection of furniture that suits any family tastes for their modern and stylish home," he added.
Emphasizing the advanced shopping system the concept offers, he said, EDDY provides a user-friendly online store to facilitate the ease of shopping for the unique home furnishing products' selection to every customer located across the Kingdom, supported by an effective delivery team, to facilitate reaching the main objective of EDDY for presenting an easy, convenient way of shopping to all members of the family," Hwang said.
On top of the wide selection of products displayed from all the brands available in the Saudi market, the promotions and price offers that EDDY provides every week to its customers are very tempting to take care of the budget of the consumer too. The wide selection of product categories and their prices will offer any family what they are looking for, he added.
About after-sales service, Hwang said: "We don’t provide service directly to customers but we can do service through our suppliers. Suppliers have their own service centers. We also have our network of service centers and huge number of technicians who can be useful if there is a need for any service."
When asked to explain what EDDY means, Hwang said: "There is no exact meaning but it is just customer-friendly. The name is easy to pronounce."
