A man was sentenced by a local court recently to 15 years in jail and a travel ban of equal duration for attempting to spy for Israel.
This was among a number of preliminary sentences handed down by the Jeddah Specialist Penal Court in a number of terror-related cases.
Another accused was sentenced to 15 months in prison and a six-month travel ban for instigating riots in Al-Ahsa through social networking sites and for participating in these riots.
Two accused who attempted to join Al-Qaeda in Yemen after they entered the country illegally were sentenced to one year in prison and a three-year travel ban each. The second accused was also given an additional 18-month prison sentence and a three-year travel ban for being in possession of stored data used to disturb public order.
