Professor Raynold Ittoop, a well-known social figure and English language instructor at Jeddah’s King Abdulaziz University, has urged young men and women to develop a greater appetite for reading in order to improve their communication skills, which are indispensable for personal growth, especially in the modern world of business.
During a ceremony marking the end of an English language-training course, he advised students that increasing their vocabulary would enable them to grasp English more easily.
Ittoop highlighted the importance of learning English. “Listen closely and absorb the different modes of modern terminologies,” he said.
The course was organized by Youth India’s Jeddah South Zone Chapter, an offshoot of Thanima, a cultural organization of Indian expatriates in the Kingdom. “Reading amply and watching news channels will help you master the language,” the professor said.
He highlighted the personality conflicts and psychological upset of a person studying a second language. “Every individual is a slave of his past but anyone who has a positive attitude can overcome his traits by analyzing and rectifying his own past,” he pointed out.
Jabir and Alavikutty were selected as the exemplary students of the batch. Organizers hoped the English course would encourage more people to learn the language while praising Ittoop for his untiring efforts to improve the English language skills of compatriots.
