Cleaners’ Day!

Cleaners’ Day!

I don’t think declaring just one day in a year to appreciate the yeoman service that cleaners provide us is enough. Some time in June, the whole world symbolically celebrated “Cleaners’ Day” by expressing its appreciation with offerings of sweets and flowers to cleaners.
Comparing the magnitude of their work with others and considering their work schedule and how they are compensated, I believe we should have a “Cleaner’s Day” at least every six months. I would like everyone to think how our cities would look if the cleaners keep away just for 24 hours. Come rain, come sun or even come sandstorm, they are there defying all conditions to fulfill their commitments.
Whenever you drive through a clean street, please always think of these boys, who bring such satisfaction and pleasure to your heart. So, shouldn’t we express our appreciation to them in some way? I believe that we should indulge in a magnanimous gesture by choosing this blessed month of Ramadan. My personal belief is that everyone will be amply rewarded by God for this, at least more than for what you dole out to those who pester you at every busy intersection! God knows best! — S.H.
