The Ebsar Society for the Rehabilitation of the Visually Impaired launched its recruitment program jointly with Al-Rabie Saudi Foods Co., a major producer of juices and food products in Saudi Arabia.
The program is part of the Ebsar rehabilitation programs for employing the visually impaired in the private sector.
The first phase of the program includes visually disabled people to be employed at Al-Rabie branches Kingdomwide.
This is in keeping with the Tawafuq scheme of the Ministry of Labor to promote employment of disabled people through a two-year training program of candidates.
Positions identified are telephone operators; human resources and recruitment specialists at Al Rabie branches in Madinah, Riyadh, Jeddah, Abha, Buraidah and Hail.
Professor Mohamed Tawfiq Bello, secretary-general of Ebsar and member of Tawafuq said Ebsar began qualifying and nominating visually impaired male and female Saudi nationals who are registered at the society.
He stressed that Al-Rabie Saudi Foods Co., as part of its CSR activities, continues to create jobs for disabled people, including appropriate jobs for the visually impaired of both sexes.
Bello said the program began with a meeting with Dr. Sirr Feraz Khan, consultant for the visually impaired, in which he spoke about visual impairment and characterization of visual aids.
During the meeting, employees had the chance to go through initial sight evaluation.
Besides, a number of staff had clinical examination and were prescribed the appropriate visual aids helpful for their occupation performance.
The new staff joined a tour of Ebsar departments.
Bello said visually impaired staff will continue their qualifying programs that match company requirements, including computer and job development skills, English language, learning Braille, customer service skills, self-management, interaction and social integration.
