Saudi Arabia plans to send two imams, one each from the two holy mosques, to Pakistan every year to strengthen ties further between the countries.
President of the Affairs of the Two Holy Mosques Sheikh Abdulrahman Al-Sudais made the announcement at his office in Makkah on Tuesday, in a meeting with Pakistan’s Minister for Religious Affairs and Interfaith Harmony Sardar Mohammed Yousaf, who is visiting the country.
Yousaf was accompanied by Ambassador Mohammed Naeem Khan.
The minister conveyed greetings from Pakistan Prime Minister Mohammed Nawaz Sharif to Al-Sudais.
Al-Sudais thanked the minister for his visit and said that Pakistan was a strong country with which Saudi Arabia enjoys excellent brotherly relations.
Al-Sudais prayed for the Muslim Ummah and the progress and prosperity of Pakistan and its people.
Al-Sudais said that relations between Pakistan and Saudi Arabia are based on deep love and reverence. Yousaf said that Pakistan was making a concerted effort to promote interfaith dialogue in line with the initiative of Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah.
Director General of Haj Syed Ahmed Abu Aakif and other officers at the Pakistan Consulate in Jeddah were present during the meeting. Yousaf gave Al-Sudais a souvenir.
