Covert investigative teams at the Riyadh Police on Saturday arrested 12 joy riders, also called drifters, including two on the wanted list of drug traffickers.
During the crackdown campaign, 49 spectators were arrested and 31 cars seized.
Police said traffic teams stopped drivers practicing stunt driving in rented cars in the eastern parts of Riyadh during the last two days. Police followed the drivers and ordered them to stop, but the drivers did not comply and were forcibly stopped and arrested, police said.
At another location, police arrested a driver while he was practicing stunt driving. The driver was also arrested for possession of banned Captagon narcotic tablets.
