3-member gang arrested for theft

A three-member African gang was arrested this week on suspicion of entering a female mosque and stealing a woman’s handbag, according to the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) at the Riyadh police.
The three expats, from Mali, entered a mosque in the Olaisha district and stole the bag as the woman prayed Taraweeh prayers.
The police station received information from a Saudi woman that a person had broken into the mosque and stole her bag containing SR15,000 and an ATM card.
An eyewitness reported that the offender fled in a black Ford.
The CID team captured the perpetrators and recovered the stolen property.
Riyadh Police have worked out safety plans for mosques during Ramadan and have deployed intensified field teams and secret squad patrols.
