An unknown assailant stabbed an Indian restaurant-keeper to death on Friday in Riyadh.
The attack took place in Shifa near the Makkah highway.
The Riyadh Police Department has launched an all-out search for the killer, who stabbed Mohammed Alavi in the chest and fled from the scene.
The motive of the killer is still not known. However, police had taken the Bangladeshi worker into custody for further investigations.
At the time of the killing, Alavi was working alone in the restaurant, while his Bangladeshi colleague was resting in his room.
The Bangladeshi worker had seen the deceased in a pool of blood when he came to the restaurant to work and called the police.
Alavi, 47, has been living in the Kingdom for the past 18 years. He had just returned to the Kingdom four months ago, following his annual vacation. The deceased is survived by his three children, wife and parents, Abdul Cader and mother Khadija, who live together in his family home in Mallapuram in the state of Kerala.
