Philippine aviation authorities suspend Zest Air

MANILA: Philippine civil aviation officials have suspended operations of local budget airline Zest Air due to safety concerns.
Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines Deputy Director General Capt. John Andrews said Friday that the airline has several outstanding safety violations, including refueling with passengers on board. He says pilots also failed to check aircraft log books and exceeded allowed flying time.
He says no significant steps have been taken to correct the problems since Zest Air was put under heightened surveillance three weeks ago. Zest Air officials said earlier this year that the airline operates 10 domestic and 10 international routes.
