The President of the Commission for the Promotion of Virtue and Prevention of Vice, Sheikh Abdullatif Al-Sheikh, on Saturday directed officials to initiate an investigation regarding the attack by members of the Riyadh branch of the Commission on the owner of an institution last Tuesday evening.
The owner, a Saudi citizen, was assaulted for performing evening prayers inside his foundation, according to reports on various internet sites.
The media spokesman of the General Presidency for the Commission of the Promotion of Virtue and Prevention of Vice, Dr. Turki Alhleyl, revealed via text message that the director general of the Commission has directed both the chair of the Commission in the Riyadh region, Sheikh Salah Al-Saeed, and the chief of the Commission in the city of Riyadh to personally investigate the case immediately.
According to the investigation, action will be taken against those responsible for the violence as per regulations to ensure the achievement of justice, he said.
