The last of the 70,000 Umrah pilgrims are set to leave the Kingdom by Thursday, according to Haj Minister Bandar Hajjar.
He said the digitized pilgrim-grouping program has been of considerable help in organizing the arrival and departure of the millions of Umrah pilgrims who visited the Kingdom during the current season.
Hajar made the statement while conducting an inspection tour of the Tawafa establishments of the Arab countries on Monday, which is an annual practice prior to the beginning of Haj.
“The ministry has formed 300 teams to monitor activities of the Tawafa establishments to ensure that all pilgrims receive excellent service,” he said.
He added that the ministry took undertakings from Haj missions to adhere to regulations stipulated by the government for the Haj season.
The minister began official inspections on Sunday with the South East Asian Tawafa establishment.
“During the visits, we affirm the need to thoroughly inspect accommodation to be provided to pilgrims,” he said, adding that trained security guards should be posted at the holy sites and Haj buildings.
He said the digitized grouping program helped 5 million foreign pilgrims to perform Umrah at ease.
“Everything was organized in such a systematic manner that no pilgrim crowding was reported at King Abdulaziz International Airport,” he added.
“No company that adhered to the ministry’s operational plan has suffered any financial loss as a result of the reduction in the number of pilgrims.”
