Interior Minister Prince Muhammad bin Naif on Wednesday emphasized the desire of Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah to strengthen the unity and stability of countries in the region.
In a statement carried by the Saudi Press Agency, he also called for the cooperation of all Arab countries to confront any danger that threatens their unity and undermines their security and stability.
He also urged Saudis to stand firm with the country's leadership to safeguard the Kingdom’s security and stability and its achievements.
“King Abdullah has stated that the Kingdom and its people would stand firmly against the proponents of division, relying on God’s support and the good understanding of its citizens of their national duty,” he said.
Prince Muhammad conveyed King Abdullah’s greetings to Saudi men and women while appreciating their “deep religious and national feelings” and their understanding of developments in the region.
He denounced the division created by parties with religious and sectarian orientation in some Arab countries. “We have confidence in your commitment to religious principles and safeguard the country’s achievements and its security and stability,” he said.
Prince Muhammad said Saudi Arabia’s support for the new government in Cairo was inspired by religious teachings to confront those forces that spread division and sedition, putting national interests in danger and serving the interests of enemies.
In a recent statement, King Abdullah called on Arabs to be united against attempts to destabilize Egypt. “The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, its people and government have always stood with the cause of its brothers in Egypt against terrorism, deviation and sedition,” the King said in a message on Saudi television.
“I call on the men of Egypt and Arab and Muslim nations, and the noble scholars, thinkers and conscientious people, men of reason and writers to stand as one man and with one heart in the face of attempts to destabilize a country that has been in the forefront of Arab and Muslim history,” the king said.
