Raha Al-Moharrak, a young and adventurous Saudi woman, through her recent achievement of climbing the highest point on Mount Everest, proved that women have a key role in society.
She is considered the first and youngest Saudi lady to climb the highest point on Mount Everest.
This mountain has impressed a lot of adventurers from around the globe to climb and fly the flags of their countries high, yet only a few have been able to do it, one of them being Raha.
She raised the Saudi flag on the highest peak in the world, setting an example to other women.
Raha says: “As an Arab woman and a Saudi one in particular, I see that some people discourage such adventures, which made me accept the challenge.”
Raha says: My first climb was on Kilimanjaro in Tanzania, which has a height of 5,895 meters above sea level, and then I was able to climb many different peaks in Europe, South America and Antarctica. I consider the climbing of Mount Everest as a unique achievement because it is the highest peak in the world.”
Raha added: “For me, mountain climbing is a hobby but what I aim to do is to change the perspective of the world toward Arab women in general and Saudi women in particular, and I could do that by conquering the impossible.”
Ayman Al-Haffar, L’Azurde KSA, EGM, expressed his pride over the achievement of Raha.
“We in L’Azurde are proud to honor Raha for her achievement,” he said. “With her we start honoring women pioneers in the Arab world. She has proved that women can cope with all the difficulties of life once they get the opportunity and full support from their families and community.” L’Azurde has come up with a special souvenir in honor of Raha, which is showcased at all of its showrooms across the Kingdom.
