In latest scandal, Mexican judges fight in court

MEXICO CITY: A Mexican judge faces possible removal from his state appeals court for springing from his chair to push and punch two fellow justices during a hearing.
The head of the Morelos state court said Thursday that Justice Miguel Angel Falcon had brought shame upon the court and forces possible impeachment, though he couldn’t be immediately suspended following the Wednesday attack.
Justice Nadia Lara Chavez says Falcon got mad at a comment by fellow Justice Ruben Jasso and struck him, shoving aside another justice who tried to intervene.
It’s the latest embarrassment for Mexico’s scandal-plagued judiciary.
The incident in Morelos comes 20 days after another appeals court freed notorious drug lord Rafael Caro Quintero in what prosecutors called “an absurd and illogical” ruling.
