A Saudi terror suspect recently turned himself in to security forces, Maj. Gen. Mansour Al-Turki, spokesman for the Interior Ministry, said in a statement on Thursday.
The suspect, Hassan Jaafar Al-Mutlaq, figures in the list of 23 wanted people in connection with the Awamiya riots in the Eastern Province city of Qatif in October 2011.
The suspect would be subjected to procedures that are generally taken when someone surrenders to legal authorities, Al-Turki said.
The 23 men, including Al-Mutlaq, were accused of conducting violent demonstrations, obstructing traffic in residential districts, destroying public property, possessing guns illegally, opening fire at citizens and security officers and using citizens as a shield, a source at the ministry said when the list was published in 2012.
They were also accused of carrying out the agenda of foreign agents.
Another suspect on the list, Hussain Ali Al-Rabea, was arrested in early September last year near his hiding place in Awamiya while selling narcotics following a brief shoot-out with security forces.
In another security operation, Nimr Baqer Al-Nimr, one of the instigators of the Awamiya riots, was arrested in July last year.
Al-Turki, who called on the remaining suspects to surrender, warned those who were found providing shelter to the wanted men or giving them any kind of support that they would be prosecuted without leniency.
Meanwhile, a special court in Riyadh trying terror suspects handed down a 15-year jail term to a man convicted of inciting sedition and producing video clippings to participate in anti-government demonstrations.
Computer photos of Al-Qaeda commanders making fiery speeches to rouse people to rebel against the government were also found in his computer's hard drive.
The court also banned him from traveling for 15 years.
The media were present at the courtroom at the time of the hearing and during the announcement of the verdict.
The convict did not express any desire to appeal the verdict, the Saudi Press Agency reported.
