Around 170 Asian expatriates employed at a leading company fell ill after consuming food served by a catering company at their accommodation in Yanbu on Saturday.
Most of these workers are Filipinos who work for a reputed company that has branches across various parts of the Kingdom.
Workers were served dinner at their place of residence on Friday, after which they immediately complained of stomach ache, diarrhea and vomiting and were rushed to different private hospitals.
A leading private hospital received 114 patients, who were provided medical aid and discharged.
Dozens of others were rushed to other private hospitals, who were also discharged after being given medical aid, a reliable source told Arab News.
The company has over 5,000 employees and says that this was the first group of workers to fall ill after eating food from their catering company.
