The newly established Madinah Industrial City is expected to have 210 industries with a total investment of SR70 billion. The facility, located on Hijrah Road, southwest of Madinah, is designed to meet the region’s future requirements.
Madinah Gov. Prince Faisal bin Salman recently opened the second phase of the industrial city in Hamra Al-Assad with four industries for carpets, lifts, glass and cement products. The city has a total area of nearly 10 million square meters.
The first phase of the project includes establishment of food, pharmaceutical, and paper industries, a senior official said.
He said the second phase would have 110 industries while the third phase will have 26 industries. “There is a plan to establish a housing complex to accommodate workers,” he pointed out.
He said the Saudi Industrial Property Authority (Modon) would make use an additional 20 million square meters of land in the region. As many as 29,000 people are working in Madinah industries.
