Mastermind rebounds; Will & Win, Davao Kalagan triumph in LLEC cagefest

Mastermind of Dante Layosa and Bong Aceveda rebounded from its last defeat while Will & Win and Davao Kalagan scored victories during the third week in the 3rd Laguna Lakers Express Cargo (LLEC) Basketball Tournament at the Al Yamama Hotel basketball court on Old Airport Road here.
Mastermind disposed of an overmatched DHL 73-57 side thanks to the heads-up play by Ronnie Cabubas, Dave Guinto, Aeron Florentino, Aceveda and Layosa. The winning team dominated the entire game.
Will & Win of Rey Perez impressed in a 91-75 victory over Dbarkadz Palace in the Class B 6 feet & below category. Tata Canonigo, Mark Ilusorio, Cordio Padin, Sam Bustos and Rico Sico turned in impressive numbers for Will. Dbarkadz cagers Bon Esguerra, Jef Enecio, Dave Guinto, Nic Cetro and Jun Dela Pena tried to counter their opponents’ strong performance to no avail in the fourth period.
Davao Kalagan brought down Fujitsu 75-69 courtesy of Carmelo Fortuna, Jef Berringuel, Aloysius Virtucio, Jepy Amora and Jun Lasmarias. After Kalagan led the first two quarters Fujitsu finished the third quarter up by one 50-49.
The remaining period saw both teams in intense exchange of baskets but the Kalagans proved to the better team at crunch time.
