Saudi Arabia will take part in the 38th session of the General Assembly of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) to be held in Montreal, Canada, between Tuesday and Oct. 4.
Faisal bin Hamad Al-Sugair, deputy chairman of the General Authority for Civil Aviation (GACA), will lead the Saudi delegation to the ICAO meetings. ICAO’s 191 member states and a large number of international organizations will be participating in the meeting.
Transport ministers and civil aviation officials from around the world will address a wide range of civil aviation policies and regulatory issues, the organizers said, adding that the assembly will also hold election for the 36-member council, the governing body of the ICAO.
It will also review special committee reports on various issues like technical, air transport and aviation safety, aviation security, air traffic and environment, in addition to the organization's budget.
The Kingdom has not only been a member of the Council of ICAO since 1986, but has been active among the 36 countries.
The ICAO Assembly is the organization’s sovereign body. It meets at least once every three years and is convened by ICAO’s governing body, the Council.
