Seven women teachers were injured in a traffic accident on the highway between Makkah and Madinah early yesterday morning.
The Civil Defense's operations room received a call at 5:09 a.m. Wednesday that an accident had occurred. When a rescue team arrived at the accident scene, it found a bus had crashed into a truck. The occupants included seven women teachers and the driver.
The rescue teams were able to extract the driver and passengers from the bus.
Two firefighting trucks also arrived on the scene as a precautionary measure.
Six injured people were sent to various hospitals in Makkah.
A woman teacher and the driver were taken by helicopter to a hospital in Jeddah. The accident site was eventually taken over by highway troopers.
