‘Companies prefer KFUPM grads’

Local companies prefer graduates from King Fahd University of Petroleum and Minerals (KFUPM) because of their education and work ethic, the university’s top official said here recently.
Khaled Al-Sultan, the university’s rector, said each graduate gets on average seven job offers, proving that young Saudis are talented and can “compete and excel in any work environment.”
Speaking at a four-day career function organized by the university recently, Al-Sultan said companies were more aware of KFUPM’s graduates than those from other universities. He said 125 companies participated in the event.
Al-Sultan said the government’s labor correction campaign would help the country socially and economically and create jobs for Saudi graduates.
He said the university monitors the performance of its 30,000 graduates. “KFUPM is proud of its graduates who hold leading positions in major companies.”
Mesfer M. Al-Zahrani, president of the event’s organizing committee and dean of student affairs, said the participant companies play an important role in providing training and employment opportunities for students and alumni.
The number of companies participating in the event proves that the university has top quality graduates. The event allows companies to interview graduates and inform them of possible careers, he said.
