As part of its social responsibility, a leading Riyadh based-company has initiated a scheme to train young Saudis to take over its management in a phased manner.
Raghunath S., CEO of Universal Building Materials Company (UBM), told Arab News following the inking of a partnership agreement with DORMA Group, from Germany on Tuesday.
Thomas P. Wagner, CEO of DORMA Group and Raghunath S., CEO of Universal Building Materials Company (UBM), signed the partnership agreement in Riyadh on Tuesday.
“We have already completed the training of 15 Saudi youth who followed a 12-month course and they are working with the company,” Raghunath S. said from Germany following the inking of the agreement.
He added that another group of 12 female graduates have commenced their training from November last year and they would complete their program at the end of the current year.
The trainees are high school graduates and they are given intensive training in finance, administration, and inventory management.
UBM, established in Saudi Arabia in 1979, is a pioneer and a market leader in the building materials industry in Saudi Arabia for the past 35 years.
Ragunath said that 23 percent of the workforce are Saudis and the company hopes to update its personnel with skilled employees through its training programs.
“We want the local human resources to take over the management gradually in a phased manner,” he added.
Speaking about the company’s business, he said UBM and DORMA are now joining hands to launch DORMA Glass Interior in this market.
“From now, the world famous DORMA Glass Interior products can be ordered to specifications from the designing stage itself, from UBM who have the expertise and the market knowledge to serve the growing needs of the construction industry in Saudi Arabia. UBM team is well qualified to offer building materials from the concept stage to delivery. This end to end service is being offered for the first time in KSA,” Raghunath said.
