The Ministry of Health will launch a nationwide awareness campaign to mark the World Cancer Day on Tuesday.
The phone-in service is part of an awareness program conducted by the National Center for Media and Health Promotion of the Ministry of Health, which will host a group of health specialists who will advise people on the prevention and treatment of cancer.
Members of the public can contact the officials on the toll free number 8002494444 during working hours on Tuesday and Wednesday. The director of the National Center for Media and Health Awareness, Amal bint Muawiya Abu Jedaiye, will handle all types of inquiries. People can also contact the health officials through Twitter@saudimoh.
An MoH official said the ministry conducts awareness campaigns from time to time to educate the masses on various topics of health interests.
During the program, Dr. Saud Al-Habash and Dr. Ali-Ashsingithi will address the callers on matters related to cancer and its impact on society. “Both doctors are oncologists and specialists in blood-related diseases and will enlighten the callers on the diagnosis and treatment of the diseases,” he said, adding that early detection of cancer would help the patient to keep malignancy under control.
