Over 2,000 disabled kids throng Aramco program

The Aramco iThra Knowledge Program 2014 held recently in Jeddah became a famous destination for all knowledge seekers.
More than 2000 children with special needs from 25 charitable organizations and rehabilitation centers in Jeddah and Makkah visited the educational and entertaining program where the Minister of Culture and information Dr. Abdulaziz Khoja praised the efforts of Aramco in organizing such an important event.
The disabled children took part in different activities such as the suite of art café which included children’s drawings, a gallery of the 99 names of Allah; a calligraphy training workshop and training workshops in art and Arabic calligraphy.
They also visited an exhibition which showcased 1001 inventions, an energy efficiency pavilion, rules for traffic safety and enjoyed watching some creative presentations and a circus.
Samir Nasr, Director of Saudi Aramco Affairs in the Western Region said that Saudi Aramco was honored to welcome the orphans and children with special needs as they were a special section of the community.
“It is the social responsibly of all the sectors of the community to let them take part in different activities to enhance their development as they are part of our community and should not be neglected,” he said. “Saudi Aramco pays special attention to facilitate these special needs children and we are proud that we are doing something positive to integrate them into society,” he added.
Dr. Khoja, the Minister of Culture and information also said that he enjoyed the exhibitions, events and all the educational activities at iThra Knowledge Program very much, especially the 1001 inventions and the scientists from Islamic civilization which showcased Islamic history.
The children with special needs said that they enjoyed the program as there were many unusual and interesting things in the exhibition which were both entertaining and educational and which they had seen for the first time in their life.
