LinkedIn, claimed to be the world’s largest professional network on the Internet, has announced the results of a global study that tracked talent migration.
Of a list of 20 nations that saw the most talent flow — inward or outward — Saudi Arabia has emerged as the third most popular destination for global professionals, gaining 0.9 percent of its total work force in a 12-month period.
Ali Matar, head of Talent Solutions, LinkedIn MENA, said: “With over 300 million professional profiles globally, 10 million members from the MENA region, and over 1 million from Saudi Arabia alone, LinkedIn is in a unique position to study professional migration and trends globally. This latest study shows that two Middle Eastern nations, the UAE and Saudi Arabia, have gained talent at 1.3 percent and 0.9 percent respectively. Talent inflows are from Europe, the United States, the subcontinent, and other Arab nations, showing that the Gulf states still retain their attractiveness for employment.”
LinkedIn was also able to track the highest sources for talent coming into the country, and the countries to which talent was migrating from the Kingdom.
According to the study, talent flowing into Saudi Arabia are from the United States, India, Pakistan, Egypt and the UAE.
The study also shows the Kingdom’s industry sectors that are attracting the most talent. They include engineering, construction, management and leadership, telecommunications technology, and oil and gas.
