RIYADH: The Ministry of Labor and Social Development revealed a national strategy for women’s employment that will provide more than 50,000 job opportunities that will launch in the next two months and will continue for two years.
He said the program includes around 2,000 jobs with salaries ranging from SR3,000 to SR9,000, in addition to a national strategy for women working from home.
The assistant undersecretary for special programs at the ministry, Abdulmonem Al-Shehri, said there are new job vacancies for women in 100 private companies in various parts of the Kingdom. He confirmed that the implementation of part-time employment for women is being studied.
Al-Shehri stressed that the third phase of the feminization strategy has not stopped, saying non-implementation is due to the lack of suitable work environments for women. He said there is an agreement with the Ministry of Municipal and Rural Affairs on this matter.
He added that feminization can’t be stopped, because it comes from a royal decree, but the third phase will take time to launch because there isn’t a suitable environment for women’s employment in many commercial stores.
He said some stores don’t have the basic requirements such as toilets and lack areas that ensure privacy for women. He said some women customers don’t have places to rest and have to sit on the pavement.
Al-Shehri said the Saudi employment program for Saudi female graduates in factories ensures there are nurseries and transportation in addition to coming up with a clear career path on the production line according to the vocation as well as defining the period of work.
He pointed out that the next phase of the feminization strategy will be in selling female perfumes, maternity needs, abayas, shoes, bags, in addition to female socks, readymade clothes and textiles.
