The Jeddah Chamber of Commerce and Industry (JCCI) distributed almost 50,000 items of clothing and toys to children in need ahead of the Eid holidays, which begins Monday. The campaign was launched as part of the chamber’s social responsibility program.
Kholoud Al-Fadeel, campaign director and organizer, said that SR2 million worth of clothing distribution would continue at the Al-Saghaf Stadium on Tahlia Street and besides Al-Haram Center behind Jarir Bookstore between 9 p.m. and 1 a.m.
“The program will benefit more than 15,000 Jeddah’s residents,” he said, adding that the donations were made to Saudi families living in central and southern Jeddah neighborhoods.
Faisal Bataweel, director of the Social Responsibility Department at the JCCI, said that program volunteers worked very hard to ensure that people in need receive gifts in time for Eid.
“We are proud that Saudi youth helped us to achieve our goal, especially during hot weather,” he said. Bataweel expressed his gratitude to the program organizers and sponsors, including Al-Saghaf traders; owner of the Fajr Al-Islam school, Abdul Raheem Kabous; and Bupa Arabia for their generous support, in addition to several philanthropists who have contributed to such social responsibility initiatives.
