Morocco’s oases fight back creeping desert sands
On the outskirts of Rissani, in the Moroccan desert, hundreds of palm tree trunks rot away on cracked ocre soil shot through with parched irrigation channels. But Morocco is trying to save its oases through special programs, and will unveil a proposal for a "sustainable oasis" at the COP22 climate talks to run in Marrakesh from November 7 to 18.
