RIYADH: The Institute of Integrated Electrical Engineers Eastern Region Chapter Saudi Arabia (IIEE— ERCSA) will conduct a cleanup drive along a beach in Alkhobar on Friday, according to Joselito M. Lagaac, IIEE-ERC president.
He said the project has evolved from the camaraderie-binding IIEE-ERCSA’s more than 600 members as well as meaningfully spending of their free time.
“The cleanup drive is one of the civic activities taken up by the IIEE-ERCSA. In doing so, our group helps in the collective move to conserve the environment,” he said.
He added that the IIEE-ERCSA is already mobilizing its members to make the necessary preparations such as coordination with the municipality of Alkhobar regarding the project.
“Alfredo B. Flores, vice president of the group for external affairs, is coordinating with the local authorities,” he said.
He added that since this would be the first time the IIEE-ERCSA has undertaken the project, no other groups of Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs) will be involved.
“Probably in the future, we will involve other OFW groups who belong to the Philippine Professionals Organization (PPO),” he said.
The forthcoming IIEE-ERCSA cleanup drive comes on the heels of a similar project by the All Filipino Community and Sports Commission (AFCSCOM) last Friday when members cleaned the corniche in Alkhobar. The group, comprising 70 organizations, collected 100 plastic bags of garbage, removed with the help of Alkhobar Municipality, which provided two trucks.
