The Indian community under the banner of Bihar Anjuman-Jubail Chapter (BAJ) organized a mushaira (poetry session) with leading Indian poets and politicians in attendance to mark their annual program with traditional zeal.
BAJ this time decided to conduct the annual program with international mushaira to woo the audience as it was a popular demand by the Indian expatriates working in Jubail.
The chief guest for this poetry evening held last Thursday was four-time MP and former Human Resources Development Minister Mohammed Ali Ashraf Fatmi.
Addressing the gathering, Fatmi highlighted the importance of education in the common man’s life.
“Only with higher education can Indian Muslims put themselves in the mainstream,” underscored the former education minister.
The annual program was divided into two parts.
The first part was composed of the annual events whereas the later part was a poetry evening that enthralled the audience.
Indian poets who enthralled the audience included Rahat Indori, A. M. Turaz, Prof. Saifullah Saif, Satlaj Rahat and Baqar Naqvi.
It was indeed an enthralling poetry night on the weekend in Jubail with the poets taking mood of the audience to a high with their couplets being received amid thunderous applause.
Imteyaz A. Khan welcomed the guests and presented the BAJ annual report, whereas Bihar Anjuman founder member Shakeel Ahmad made a presentation on the vision and mission of Bihar Anjuman.
The program was organized by BAJ President Anzar Alam and convenor Fakhruddin Ali Ahmad who were very well supported by its organizing team consisting of Mohammed Shamim, Imteyaz A. Khan, Mohammed E. Raji, Aftab Ahmad, Faiyaz Ahmad, Nesar Ahmad, Ghulam Jafar, Habib Shaikh and Andalib Rahman.
