DUBAI: Saudi Arabia contributed in the release of French hostage Alain Goma, who was held by Houthi militias for nearly four months, Saudi Press Agency (SPA) said Tuesday.

The 54-year-old Goma, who was sailing his way to India, was kidnapped on July 8 after his boat ran into trouble and forced him to drop anchor at Hodeidah port.

Joint forces used a French C-130 aircraft to fly the hostage Muscat in Oman from Sanaa.

In a statement, French President Emmanuel Macron thanked authorities in Saudi Arabia and Oman for helping obtain Goma’s release.
