JEDDAH: Saudi Arabia’s Ad Diriyah Formula E-Prix race marks the beginning of the fifth season of the ABB FIA Formula E Championship, and teams will use their Gen2 cars in the competition for the very first time.
Portuguese driver Antonio Felix da Costa held on for victory ahead of Techeetah’s Jean-Eric Vergne and Jerome d’Ambrosio in the Mahindra car at the inaugural race on Saturday.
The event saw 22 professional drivers representing 11 nations and teams, competing in a 2,495 km race.
Saudi Arabia’s Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, along with his counterparts from the UAE, Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed, and Bahrain, Salman bin Hamad, were pictured attending the closing ceremony of the inaugural event.
