The ‘chosen one’? Trump says never mind

  • Donald Trump appeared to say he was the chosen one to deal with China
  • He later claimed the comment was sarcasm and accused journalists of ‘fake news’

WASHINGTON: President Donald Trump raised some eyebrows earlier this week when he glanced heavenward and referred to himself as “the chosen one” to take on China.
He took the comment back Friday.
When a reporter asked Trump what he had meant by referring to himself as the “chosen one,” the president looked annoyed.
“You know exactly when I meant,” Trump said. “It was sarcasm. It was joking. We were all smiling. And a question like that is just fake news.”
The president spoke as he was departing the White House for his trip to the Group of Seven summit in France.

Bus crash kills 22 in northwest Pakistan after brakes fail

  • Incident happened Sunday in the Chilas distract, on the bus’ route from Skardu to the city of Rawalpindi
  • Rescue efforts were facing difficulties in the remote mountainous terrain due to lack of needed equipment and resources
ISLAMABAD: Pakistani police say a bus has rammed into a hill after it breaks failed on a mountainous road, killing 22 passengers and injuring 15 in the country’s northwest.
Officer Abdul Wakil says the incident happened Sunday in the Chilas distract, on the bus’ route from Skardu to the city of Rawalpindi.
Wakil says rescue efforts were facing difficulties in the remote mountainous terrain due to lack of needed equipment and resources.
Such road accidents are common in Pakistan where motorists largely disregard traffic rules and safety standards on battered roads. Last month a speeding bus fell off a mountainous road into a river in the northwest, killing 24 passengers.
