Talks and workshops at Saudi Design Week

Set to run until Nov. 9 in Riyadh, Saudi Design Week is hosting an engaging set of talks and workshops.

  • Never Ending Textile Print

    When? Nov. 7 and 9 Participants will each make their own print on one large piece of textile that will later be hung at the design fair.

  • Design Happy Edibles

    When? Nov. 7 and 8 This workshop helps kids learn about the nutritional value of their food by designing their own salad.

  • Planning for Sustainability

    When? Nov. 7 Well-designed cities offer a range of social, environmental and economic benefits. This presentation introduces some key examples from international cities.

  • Fashion and Vision 2030

    When? Nov. 8 Professor Reina Lewis discusses modest workwear as a form of cross-cultural dialogue with Saudi fashion designer Arwa Al-Banawi. The pair will explore how designers can contribute to women’s comfort at work in the context of modest dress codes.

  • Create Your Own Bio-Plastic

    When? Nov. 8 and 9 To raise awareness and support the creation of bio-based plastic, students learn how to make bio-plastics out of everyday ingredients.

  • Living on Mars

    When? Nov. 8 and 9 This workshop looks at developing novel concepts of habitation on Mars, envisioning and creating sustainable settlement proposals.
