TEHRAN: Iran has reported another 127 coronavirus deaths, bringing its death toll to 1,812 amid 23,049 confirmed cases.
Iran is battling the worst outbreak in the Middle East, and has faced widespread criticism for not imposing stricter quarantine measures early on.
It is also suffering under severe American sanctions imposed after President Donald Trump withdrew the US from Tehran’s 2015 nuclear deal with world powers.
State TV reported the latest figures on Monday.

UAE, Sudan discuss energy and infrastructure

DUBAI: Emirati and Sudanese authorities met to discuss cooperation in energy and infrastructure, state news agency WAM reported.

UAE’s Minister of Energy and Infrastructure Suhail Al-Mazrouei, Sudan’s Minister of Energy and Mining Khairy Abdel Rahman and Minister of Infrastructure Hashim Ibn Auf also discussed technological details of joint projects during the meeting on Tuesday.

The report did not reveal details of the projects or discussions, but UAE has pledged $50 million in support of economic growth in Sudan in cooperation with World Bank late June.
