Matters of material

Christie’s is set to host an exhibition and online sale titled “Matters of Material” that is dedicated to promoting diversity in the international art market and promoting sustainability in the arts. Set to take place from Nov 11-24, the event will include works from acclaimed international and local artists.

  • Maha Malluh

    Hailing from Saudi Arabia, the artist is highly influenced by the region of Najd. ‘Bloom,’ which is up for auction, is a sculpture of floral dishes stacked atop each other. 

  • Ghada Amer

    The contemporary Egyptian artist is best known for her artworks that focus on gender. She will be auctioning her work ‘The Virgin without a child.’ 

  • Nabil Nahas

    The Lebanese artist is recognized for his three-dimensional paintings, one of which will be available to purchase during the auction.

  • Lina Ben Rejeb

    Born in Tunisia, the Paris-based artist’s ‘Nous sommes de cette étoffe dont les rêves sont faits’ is up for auction.

  • Farhad Moshiri

    The Iranian artist, whose work ‘Tranquility’ is up for auction, takes everyday pieces and transforms them into art. 

  • Monir Farmanfarmaian

    One of the most prominent Iranian artists of our time. Her work, ‘Drawing in Glass,’ will be included in the online sale.
