ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s minister for Finance Hammad Azhar said on Tuesday his government was committed to strengthening and expanding “investment and business linkages” with Saudi Arabia.
Azhar said this in a meeting with Ambassador-Designate to Saudi Arabia, Lt. Gen. (retired) Bilal Akbar.
“The Ambassador-Designate briefed the Finance Minister on the vast potential for expanding bilateral trade and investment between the two countries,” the finance ministry said in a statement. “The Finance Minister stressed to further strengthen the investment & business linkages to its full potential and facilitate Pakistani diaspora abroad.”
Saudi Arabia is the largest source of remittances to Pakistan. On Monday, the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) said Pakistani nationals had remitted $5.7 billion from Saudi Arabia between July to March this fiscal year.
