ISLAMABAD: Peshawar Zalmi defeated Karachi Kings by nine runs in their Pakistan Super League (PSL) 2022 match played at Karachi's National Stadium on Friday.
Karachi won the toss and decided to bowl first in the game. Peshawar Zalmi scored 173 at a loss of four wickets in 20 overs.
Shoaib Malik hit an unbeaten 52 runs off 28 balls with the help of five boundaries and two sixes. Hazratullah Zazai made 41 runs off 27 deliveries, while Ben Cutting scored 24 off 22 balls.
Umaid Asif was the leading wicket taker for Karachi, with three for 36 runs. Aamer Yamin took one wicket for 36 runs.
Chasing the 174-run target, Karachi crashed at 164 runs in the last over.
Babar Azam's unbeaten 90-run knock could also not see his side to victory. Babar hit 12 boundaries and a six.
Ian Cockbain (31) and Aamer Yamin (20) were the other top-scorers.
Mohammad Umar returned with 3/22 figures, while Shoaib Malik and Usman Qadir took one wicket each.
This was the fourth consecutive defeat of Karachi Kings in the tournament.
