Saudi, Chinese ministers discuss defense ties

SINGAPORE: Saudi Arabia’s Assistant Minister of Defense for Executive Affairs Dr. Khalid bin Hussein Al-Bayari on Saturday met China’s State Councilor and Minister of National Defense Gen. Wei Fenghe.

The meeting was held on the sidelines of the 19th Shangri-La Dialogue security summit in Singapore. Al-Bayari led the Kingdom’s delegation to the summit.

During the meeting, bilateral relations between the two countries in the defense and military fields were reviewed and a number of issues of mutual concern were discussed.

The event is being attended by defense, interior and foreign ministers as well as senior government officials, military analysts and decision-makers in the diplomatic and security arenas of more than 30 countries.

The summit, organized by the International Institute for Strategic Studies, is scheduled to discuss a number of important issues, topped by the regional security situation, cooperation and exchange in defense, and enhancing security partnerships in Asia and the Pacific.
