A unique three-day “InfoSecurity University” will be held at Le Meridien Hotel for Saudi-based IT security experts from April 17-19 during COMDEX Saudi Arabia.

This year, the COMDEX organizers have invited MIS Training Institute of the United States — an international leader in IT security training — to develop a detailed teaching program on the subject for show exhibitors and delegates.

“The InfoSecurity University has been set up in response to the widely-expressed concerns of major Saudi companies about hacker-attack and penetration, plus information theft,” said Daniel Downs, manager of International Projects for MIS.

He added: “There are different tracks for both management and technical delegates, with an overall strategic focus on identifying threats, uncovering and combating hacker techniques, and introducing better security systems.”

The program will be led by Ken Cutler, managing director of the US Information Security Institute. Cutler has headed security programs for major groups such as Amex, Martin-Marietta and Moore McCormack, and has been widely published.

The management workshop tracks will focus on topic areas such as “Blueprint for Success: Architecture for Information Security,” “Protecting your Network Perimeter” and “Network Vulnerability Testing.”

Technical workshops will examine TCP/IP network vulnerabilities, securing websites, encryption and router protection.

“The program is aimed at senior management, as well as information security managers and analysts, system administrators and analysts and engineers,” Downs explained. “The security techniques and systems that we explain are proven — and vital to businesses in the Kingdom. All COMDEX attendees are welcome.”
