JEDDAH, 18 April — Dr. Rofaydah Khashoggi, dean of girls education at King Abdul Aziz University, has called on graduates to participate in large numbers in the Career Day scheduled for April 29.
Briefing the press about this year’s Career Day programs, Dr. Khashoggi also announced the launching of Sahr-kau.com website where the graduates can look for jobs in the Saudi market. “Unlike the previous years, the Career Day function will be held at the conference hall in the university campus to accommodate a greater number of graduates,” she said. The theme this year is “Investing in People”. Speakers including Dr. Majed Al-Kassabi, secretary-general of Jeddah Chamber of Commerce and Industry, will highlight the best ways of developing personal skills.
Asked about growing unemployment rate among graduates, she said: “It is not the university’s responsibility to secure a job for each graduate. Our primary responsibility is to provide the best training and education our graduates can get to fill the jobs available in the market.”
Dr. Khashoggi said the Career Day was being organized to bring the graduates and companies together which she said would help solve the unemployment problem to a great extent. She said at this year’s function, a Saudi woman who had made a great contribution in procuring jobs for Saudi graduates would be honored.
