JEDDAH, 19 April — In the semifinal of the Saudi Football League for the King’s Cup, local rivals Al-Ittihad and Al-Ahli were involved in a goalless draw.
The traditional rivals will replay their match on April 25 while the second semifinal will be played today between two Riyadh rivals Al-Hilal and Al-Nasr.
In yesterday’s match, Ittihad decidedly had the upper hand and territorial supremacy but failed to translate their superiority into goals.
The teams were defensive and cautious in their approach in the first half but as the game progressed they opened up and became more aggressive.
Ittihad missed at least four open chances and striker Hassan Al-Yami also wasted a penalty which was saved by a diving Ahli goalkeeper.
