JEDDAH, 27 April — The Commerce Ministry has banned shops and establishments selling cigarettes to children under 18. The ministry also directed all the chambers of commerce and industry in the Kingdom to launch media campaigns against smoking in a periodic manner. The move aims at stopping parents and adults from asking youngsters to bring them cigarettes from shops which might tempt children to start the bad habit, Al-Riyadh reported yesterday.
